Gedeon Richter, who lost his parents at a very early age, embarked on a career as a pharmacist with the mission of finding a cure for diseases that had been incurable until then. After his European studies, in 1901, he bought the Sas pharmacy on Üllői Road in Budapest, from the basement of which the flagship of the Hungarian pharmaceutical industry started with pioneering organotherapy research. Gedeon Richter's genius soon developed the laboratory into a pharmaceutical factory in Kőbánya, and with iconic products such as Kalmopyrin, he built a network covering five continents even before World War II. Although the storms of history deprived him of his company, Gedeon Richter remained faithful to his life's work until the end: instead of fleeing to Switzerland, he stayed at home and secretly helped the operation of his factory until his tragic martyrdom at the hands of the Arrow Cross Terror in 1944. This intellectual and human heritage also defines the company's global presence today. The company, which started out as a pharmacy in Budapest, has now become a multinational company with a direct presence in more than 50 countries and exporting its products to more than 100 countries. Its success in the international market and its domestic social responsibility are closely linked: the company recycles a significant part of its results in foreign markets in Hungary, serving the development of the domestic economy. In addition, it pays special attention to supporting domestic healthcare, education and scientific succession, as well as to the implementation of programs promoting public health preservation and health awareness. On its 125th anniversary, Richter will continue its founder's humanitarian approach and innovative heritage in a worthy way
