A week dedicated to global Croatian togetherness
At the proposal of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, on 6 March 2026, the Croatian Parliament unanimously adopted the Decision Proclaiming the Week of Croats Abroad, which will be celebrated annually in the last week of May, in the period around the Statehood Day of the Republic of Croatia (30 May).
The purpose of this event is to promote the presence of Croats living outside the Republic of Croatia in public space, to strengthen their national awareness, to foster mutual links and acquaintances, and to further develop a sense of belonging to the single, global Croatian people.
The Week of Croats Abroad is dedicated to Croats in Bosnia and Herzegovina, members of the Croatian national minority in European countries and the Croatian emigration around the world, which is estimated to include more than 3.2 million people. During the Week, cultural, educational, scientific and social events will be organized to present their heritage and modern-day achievements to the Croatian public.
