Common trout in a form typical of clean Czech streams and rivers. The chosen color scheme corresponds to the most common color form that occurs in our country. A neutral sandy bottom is chosen for the background – this environment corresponds to the middle and foothill sections of streams, where trout are commonly found. In such an environment, they have an adapted lighter, yellowish coloration, which provides them with effective camouflage against the light bottom and reflections of light in the water. The plant in the illustration represents the Lakušnik – a typical species of trout streams in the Czech Republic. This species grows in clean, cool, flowing water with a sandy-gravel bottom. The painter in the illustration is slightly stylized.
