Czech Republic - Artwork on Stamps - Pavel Brazda (MNH)

Our price: $2.00 USD

Pavel Brázda was an important figure in Czech fine art. After the war, he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he met his future wife, the painter Věra Nováková. After the coup in February 1948, both were expelled from the school for political reasons. For the next forty years, the couple worked independently of the main artistic currents, so to speak, in a drawer, without the possibility of exhibiting. This contributed to the creation of Pavel Brázda's unique style, which reflects the precision of the work of classical masters, but at the same time works with postmodern abbreviation, irony and humor.

A painting called Walking Box from 1954 as one of Brázda's main paintings from this period and a symbol of the inseparable legendary duo of Pavel Brázda and Věra Nováková
